As part of our Erasmus project, we created a Christmas themed video project in December to bring together DALC in Dublin and CEPA Distrito Centro in Madrid!  As part of our Erasmus project, we created a Christmas-themed video project in December to unite the DALC in Dublin with the CEPA Distrito Centro in Madrid.

We had the idea to film short video clips of our group passing an object and filmed in different locations. This would create the effect of a chain of people handing the object to each other in different places.

Isabel in CEPA Distrito Centro had the idea to use a globe to hand over. The globe represented the European and global element of the project! We took some time to find a globe of the same size and shape to make it look like it was the same object! Our globe in Dublin has a lighter color blue - much like the sky and water in Ireland! The globe in Madrid was a deeper blue, to reflect the sunny weather there!

Firstly, the group in CEPA went out to different locations to film their videos. They made separate clips in total and emailed them to us here in Dublin. They filmed in various locations around Madrid including the CEPA Centre, Plaza Mayor, Plaza de Oriente, Plaza de España and many others.

We filmed our video clips on a cold and icy morning in Dublin! We filmed mainly around the Dublin 1 area - in locations like inside the DALC learning centre, Croke Park stadium,, the General Post Office, The Custom House, The Luke Kelly statue Mountjoy Square park and other locations.

All it meant was to edit and add some music - Merry Christmas! - and tie it all together!

What we did was edit and add some music, the song Merry Christmas! And assemble it all together!

Both groups reported it as a very positive experience! They used many skills for this project:

  • They used their digital skills to take photos on their phone and short video clips
  • They used google maps to check the locations of places to film
  • They also used their reading skills to check street signs
  • Finally they used their writing skills to create signs and flags to hold up!

We stopped and had a Christmas coffee and cake. We talked about the experience and reflected on it.
